Tru Davies (Eliza Dushku)
Recent college graduate Tru Davies ends up working at the county morgue after her internship at a local hospital falls through. She soon discovers that she can hear dead people asking her for help and that on days that they do, her day starts over. With the help of morge man Davis and her brother Harrison, Tru set out to save the lives of those who have died too soon. As she goes through her journey, having to postpone medical school, she discovers that her mother also had the calling before she was murdered. Tru's life is further complicated by the arrival of Jack Harper, the yin to her yang.

Davis (Zach Galifianakis)
Head morgue attendant Davis is extremely loyal to Tru, helping her each time her day rewinds to save whoever has asked her. Davis finds out about Tru when he guesses since he went through a similar experience. Years later he nearly died and was helped by a woman, Tru's mother. However, Davis' wife was killed. Socially awkward, he has trouble speaking or relating to people and enjoys Lord of the Rings and I, Claudius. Davis begins to move on with his life with the presence of Dr. Carrie Allen, but that relationship most likely would have met a few bumps since she was working with Jack.

Harrison Davies (Shawn Reaves)
Harrison is Tru's younger brother. Though he has a gambling problem, he has a very good heart. When Tru initially tells him about her ability to relive days he is skeptical. Eventually he comes around and believes Tru. Along with Davis, Harrison helps Tru whenever she needs it. Harrison is often seeking the approval of his father Richard, though he doesn't like it. After a failed relationship with Tru's best friend Lindsay, Harrison accepts a job offer from his father at his law firm. Harrison is on the right path, living a clean life and helping Tru.

Jack Harper (Jason Priestley)
Jack Harper came to down for a job at the morgue when Gardez left. He immediately got on Tru's nerves and the two clashed, much like fire and ice. Tru and Davis soon discovered that Jack had been in a psychiatric facility because he thought he was reliving days. He realized he wasn't crazy and checked himself out. When Tru discovers he shares the same ability has her, she's excited to have an ally. She soon learns, though, that Jack doesn't see it as a gift and doesn't help people. Jack believes that he needs to preserve fate, not change it. The real reason he came to town was to work with Tru's father to stop Tru from tampering with fate.

Lindsay Walker (A.J. Cook)
Lindsay and Tru have been best friends since childhood. After college the two have busy lives, starting new jobs, but still remain close. Lindsay begins to date Tru's younger brother Harrison. The two had an intense and tumultuous relationship that Lindsay ended when it became clear that Harrison wasn't ready to mature. She reconnected with a man she dated while studying abroad and the two married. Lindsay and her husband Randall moved to Ireland.

Meredith Davies (Jessica Collins)
Meredith Davies, the oldest of Tru and her siblings, was always the overachiever of the family. She graduated from law school and works at a top form in the city. Despite that success, Meredith has had a problem with drugs for years. Having been in rehab, Tru and Harrison believe that she is clean but Tru worries she may slip. Her worries are for a good reason, because Meredith often does slide back into old habits. After a particularly nasty encounter with a drug dealer, Meredith calls her sister for help and seems to have turned her life around. Like Harrison, Meredith also has issues with seeking approval from her father.

Luc Johnston (Matthew Bomer)
Luc worked at the morgue as a crime scene photographer. He and Tru were interested in each other pretty much immediately. As their relationship progressed, however, they broke up due to Tru having to constantly run off. As time passed the two began to reconnect and Tru promised to explain to Luc why she kept running off. When she did, Luc ran off. Jack interfered and sent Luc somewhere Luc believed he'd find answers about Tru. Upon arrival, Luc was shot and before he died he told Tru that he loved her.

Richard Davies (Cotter Smith)
After the death of his wife, Richard and his children had a strained relationship. Richard moved back to town when his firm opened an office in the city. Much mystery surrounds Richard. His children don't know that he was behind their mother's murder or that he also relived days. Richard, however, like Jack, did not save lives. He believed in preserving fate and is willing to go to any means necessary to do so, including having his wife murdered and hiring Jack Harper to work against Tru.

Jensen Ritchie (Eric Christian Olsen)
Jensen is a promising medical student who meets Tru when she joins his study group. He initially had a girlfriend named Lexie but they broke up when she lied about being pregnant. He and Tru began to get closer as time went on. At one point Jensen was brought into the morgue, having been shot in a robbery. He didn't ask for help, but someone else did Tru broke the rules and saved both.

Dr. Carrie Allen (Liz Vassey)
Dr. Carrie Allen is the new psychiatrist at the morgue and meets Davis when he comes in for his psych evaluation. Davis developed feelings for her, though he was constantly nervous around her. Carrie, however, was working for Jack. They met in a dive bar and Jack has her keeping an eye on Davis.

Avery goes to school with Tru and Jensen and is part of their lab group. She volunteers at the clinic and has been friends with Jensen for years.
